Empowering Tech for Positive Change

At Code for the Community, we harness technology for global community impact, fostering collaboration between nonprofits, skilled mentors, and aspiring interns.

Grow Your Vision

Inspired by a transformative collaboration with United2Heal, we embarked on our journey in 2018, developing a simple mobile app that streamlined the sorting of medical supplies for those in need.

In 2019, we took a step further by launching the Code for the Community internship program. This initiative serves as a platform for aspiring tech enthusiasts to contribute to real-world projects while gaining valuable hands-on experience. Our dedication to nurturing growth has yielded remarkable outcomes. The interns who have completed our program credit significant aspects of their successful career placements to the skills and insights they gained while being a part of our team. Many have gone on to work at leading technology companies, including Meta, Microsoft, Accenture, and T-Mobile.

In 2024, our intern cohort built and launched the ROMO app, a mobile platform that helps unhoused individuals in San Francisco access critical resources such as shelters, food banks, and health clinics. The app provides a centralized and easy-to-use tool for those seeking assistance, making a tangible difference in the community.

We recognize that the impact of our mentors extends far beyond our organization. By equipping mentors with the skills, knowledge, and passion to drive change, we envision a ripple effect that reaches non-profit organizations worldwide. These tech leaders will guide projects, inspire innovation, and uplift communities, leaving a lasting mark on the landscape of positive transformation.

Join us in our mission to cultivate tech leaders who drive positive change on a global scale.
